Keyesville Gold Tour

As part of Whiskey Flats Days the BLM's own Dr. Gregg Wilkerson led a tour of Keyesville. Arriving in his 1931 convertible, dressed up and playing the part of a member of an old gold mining family, Dr. Wilkerson led 45+ people to the fort site, several mines, an arrestra down by the river, the Keyesville Cemetary, and relayed a tremendous amount of information about the history of the area, and how many actions that took place affect us today. After the rather long hike up to se the original Keyesville Mine, the group dwindled down to 20, then 5, as what had been billed as a 2 hour tour lasted nearly 4.5 hours! But what fun we had, and I dare say he did such a great job I can lead friends on a similar tour myself - without the clothes and cool car, of course!
